A Day of Healing and Cummunity

Saturday, May Ist 2010

The poet Kabir says:

Knowing nothing shuts the iron gates; the new
love opens them.

The sound of the gates opening wakes the beautiful
woman asleep.

Don't let a chance like this go by!

If you are in a relationship or have just ended one ... if you are out of a relationship or would like to be in one ... or if you would simply like to improve your relationship with your self, so that you might be in better relationship with others; We welcome you to join us for this day of community and healing.

This will be an all day ceremony that will include chopping wood, taking care of the land, tending the sweat lodge grounds, mytho-poetic men's work, and whatever else is needed to prepare the heart and the mind to open the iron gates and "wake the beautiful woman asleep."

Although this is intended as a "men's lodge," women are encouraged to come and help us with this work by offering their strong prayers and much needed support outside the lodge ... So men, please feel free to bring your partners to spend all or part of the day with us. Kids are welcome too. We are offering the work in this way, because this is an important ceremony; not just for our relationships and our families, but for all our relations everywhere. When we gather our medicine together in community and bear witness to one another's healing, we alter the way in which we relate to the living world; which in turn, alters the world in which we live. We are all connected like that.

Bring a towel, a pair of shorts and some food to share. If you don't feel "called" to sweat; that's fine. Much of what is offered and learned in this ceremony takes place outside the lodge, so we'd still love to have you with us. Space inside is limited though. Please call or send me an E-mail if you plan to attend. If there are more men than space inside the lodge, we will pour as many lodges as it takes for everyone to pass through this ceremony. Here's the address and map 10535 23rd Ave NE Seattel, WA 98125

Later, we will talk about scheduling a lodge in which the women go inside, while the men pray and offer their support from the outside ... but that will be for another day ;. )

Love and Blessings to all,

Michael Scott Brooks
